The greater Lansing region will have a significant impact on this fall's gubernatorial race and will have a strong presence in the Governor's office regardless of the winner of the November 2nd election.

The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce applauds the announcement yesterday that local lawmaker, Rep. Brian Calley of Portland will be the running mate for Republican gubernatorial nominee Rick Snyder. The Chamber's political action committee (LRC-PAC) endorsed Rep. Calley in his successful bid in the State Senate primary election held earlier this month. In making the endorsement, LRC-PAC praised Calley's background as a community banker and his strong legislative track record in tax policy, health policy and banking, and financial services.

LRC-PAC also made a primary election endorsement of Virg Bernero in the Democratic gubernatorial race.

"It is exciting to have strong local representation on both party tickets this fall," said Kristin Beltzer, LRCC senior vice president for Government Relations & Public Policy.

"Our region is well represented in a critically important election year."

LRC-PAC has not made any decisions as to whether it will interview candidates or make an endorsement in the general election race for Governor.
