The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce (LRCC) has taken a position to not support the proposed 4 mill property tax increase that will be on the May 3rd ballot in the city of Lansing.

The year began with optimism surrounding the new administration in Lansing. Governor Rick Snyder’s administration immediately proposed aggressive new tax, regulatory and budget reforms designed to encourage a long-term, sustainable climate for economic growth. The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce (LRCC) endorsed the Governor’s tax plan, which was eventually passed by the legislature.

Our organizations are writing to voice concern about the proposed closing of the Lansing Processing & Distribution center on Collins Road in Lansing, Michigan. We understand the financial pressures the U.S. Postal Service is experiencing and how those pressures necessarily must lead to evaluation of all its services, which understandably will include the closing and consolidations of many of its facilities around the country. In no way do we want to interfere with the process that is taking place.
