ITAR Training Available on August 30

Individuals involved in exporting products or materials that may be used in a military application, will want to attend a special International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) conference being offered by the Procurement and Technical Assistance Center (PTAC). The ITAR conference will be held from 9 a.m. until noon, on Tuesday, August 30 at the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce, located at 500 E. Michigan Avenue in Lansing.

The introductory training session is geared for individuals who have questions about what “ITAR Compliant” or “ITAR Certified” mean, as well as concerns about the registration process. Topics covered include:
  • “ITAR Compliant” and “ITAR Certified” definitions
  • Identifying who must register with the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls
  • Pointers on how to complete the required form
  • Compliance issues for dealing with US Munitions List articles, tech or services
  • Penalties for non-compliance
  • Registration required in order to apply for licenses to export
Jean Schtokal, who is a shareholder with the law firm of Foster Swift Collins & Smith PC, will be the main presenter at the conference. Jean’s international business law experience is expansive and includes international trade, distribution, manufacturing and licensing arrangement; establishment of subsidiaries, branch offices and facilities; joint ventures and strategic alliances, as well as acquisitions and direct investments.
